Beci Cowell (now Whatley) painter KLB 1986 - 1990
After graduating my work predominantly was created in monochrome using pen, ink and bleach, exhibiting at The Royal West of England Academy Open Exhibition.
With a break from my painting to bring up my family, my job at Bristol Fine Art enticed my creativity back when a new range of acrylic paints came into stock.
Since then I have explored a whole new direction with my work, bringing vibrancy, colour and texture into my canvas and paper works.
My paintings are inspired by the elements of the natural world such as stylised flowers, feathers and fauna, working with a whole range of mixed media.
They are a process, very similar to screen print, with a build up of layers. Starting with acrylic paint, then painted dots, flat and raised, finally being decorated with acrylic rhinestone gems, mirrors and more recently skeleton leaves.
I have work in various countries, that has been sold via my facebook page or my Etsy site. Also through these sites I have gained a solo exhibition at Prema Arts Centre and work bought by Victoria's Journals for surface designs on their books. At present my canvases can be found at A Fish Out of Water Gallery, Wotton-Under -edge and at many Arts and Craft Markets around Bristol.
