I currently work part-time as a Deputy Chief Executive of a small arts and education charity, called the AAH. The charity works with schools, universities and galleries to promote artistic and curatorial research, art history and visual culture. I am also a practicing artist and curator (although slightly less active since the birth of my 2 year and 5 year old!). I currently work on smaller scale abstract works of paint on paper, which mimic constructivist patterns and approaches. I used to work with oil on canvas or wood and on much larger scales. I produce the frames too, so tend to see the final works as objects. During my BA at Goldsmiths I mainly did figurative paintings but in my final year I started reproducing patterns and making abstract works. I always use tracing paper and methods of copying, appropriating and reproducing in my work, be it figurative or abstract. I am interested in the concept of mimicry and copying to excess so that even straight lines and solid blocks take on new forms.
