JOHN GRESKO special effects designer
KLB

After leaving KLB I took the three dimensional multi-disciplinary design degree course at BUCKS University in High Wycombe. My first job after the degree was an Architectural Assistant position with McCarthy & Stone who design and build luxury apartment complexes for over 60's. I then went on to work for Parsons Brinckerhoff, an American infrastructure company that provides schools, bridges and power stations amongst other things. After finally realising what I would most like to do with my life I took a course in visual effects and now work for Double Negative as part of their VFX pipeline. To date, I have worked on Interstellar, Exodus and Terminator Genisys.

The software I use to design and create things is truly amazing. You are limited only by your imagination and require no physical resources in order to take a concept through to a realised object that can be then manufactured. I think it would be a great idea to introduce students to programs such as Autodesk's Maya and 3dsMax at an early age as they will benefit from the challenge of learning how to use the software and would also be free to design and make (virtually) almost anything they can imagine without huge material costs to the schools.
