GRACE JACKSON .....
KLB 1998 - 2005

After leaving KLB, I spent eight months traveling in Asia (including Sri Lanka, Cambodia, China, Tibet, and Mongolia). In 2006, I began my degree in English literature at the University of Cambridge. After graduating in 2009, I was awarded a scholarship to spend a year studying a new subject at Harvard University.

Drawn back to Asia, I began studying Chinese, and took some courses in history and religion. From Boston, I traveled to Beijing and then to Taipei, where I spent two years studying Chinese and working as a translator and tutor. In 2012, I went back to Harvard to study for a master’s degree in East Asian Studies. I split my time between history classes and documentary filmmaking workshops, and made three short films before graduating in May 2014.

I am now working as a freelance videographer and translator in New York City, but would like to relocate to East Asia in the next few years to live and work.

The four thumbnails represent:
1. Shooting a documentary, The Swift Return, at a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Dumfriesshire, Scotland.
2. A still from my first short documentary A Handmade Tale, a portrait of two artisans, both business and romantic partners, in Vermont, USA.
