Following an inspirational secondary school education Rupert studied 3D Design at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art & Design. From there he became involved in set-building for various companies and settled for many years as Head of Set Construction & Design for a stop-frame animation company working on both ITV and BBC commissioned series.

In 2006 Rupert set up in partnership with the talented Richard Stump to produce furniture, sculpture and architectural features for numerous artists and designers.

In 2008 he formed Portal Design Ltd, a company set up to collaborate with artists and designers to take their conceptual ideas through development to realisation and manufacture.
