John Pinch MEd
John Pinch started making at an early age. By the time he left the Bluecoat School in Liverpool he had designed and built a garage for his father and his A level work included a silver plated coffee pot, raised by hand from a 22" flat copper sheet, a number of accoustic and electric guitars and various of pieces of furniture. As a boarding pupil he would find his way into the workshops at weekends and would only use hand tools so as not to draw attention to his presence!
He studied education for three years at Redland College in Bristol where he extended his knowledge and ability to work in a wider range of materials including precious metals, plastics and ceramics whilst learning how to teach.
From the early days of woodwork and metalwork to teaching Design and Technology he always found time to do his own thing. This included making jewellery including mayoral chains, modelling ice lolly originals for Birds Eye Walls, drawing listed building plans for a local architect, renovating five properties at home and in France, designing web sites, sculpting in stone and ceramics, and more recently supporting his son with his furniture business, PINCH.
